Our Association
Sapana – सपना
is Nepali for dream. Not only does it sound beautiful, but it also refers to the realisation of our own dreams, as well as the many small and big dreams of Nepalese children and villagers. This is why the word resonated so deeply with our project. To work on this project, we set up the Sapana Association.
Meet our Team
We are a team of nine young, motivated individuals who share the same vision: to open a sustainable library in Nepal. Eight of us are from Switzerland and one is from Nepal. Our professional backgrounds include marketing, banking, agriculture, tourism, sustainability, event planning, non-profit organisations, sales and business planning.
Thanks to our collective knowledge and experience in various fields, we were well equipped to take on this project. We are proud to say that we all work on a voluntary basis, meaning that 100% of your donations can go directly to the project.
You can find out more about our individual team members here. What convinced us to participate in this project? What is our attitude towards books? What do we like to do in our free time?

During my first visit to Nepal in 2017, my lifelong dream of opening a library in this country burned itself into my heart and became a constant companion in my daydreams.
I am thrilled to be able to lead this heartfelt project with our amazing team. In total, I have traveled for well over two years of my life and am enthusiastic about every adventure.

For many years, I have been working to protect disadvantaged children from life on the streets, drugs, and unemployment. For me, books and reading habits are something I am passionate about promoting. I am delighted to be part of the Sapana team and to contribute my many years of experience in the NGO sector.

Driven by the desire to explore the unknown, I want to work hand in hand with the Nepalese people to build something lasting. The smile of a grateful person motivates me to give my all.
In my free time, I passionately cultivate over 60 plants according to the principles of permaculture, putting my green thumb to good use.

During my travels, I have learned that you can achieve a great deal with very little. Nepal and the people who live there have made a huge impression on me! Although they have almost nothing, they are willing to share everything with you immediately. I have rarely seen such friendly and helpful people. That’s why I’m really looking forward to working on site and being part of this project.
In my free time, I travel a lot. I go on trips, hike, or surf somewhere on the beach.

I am part of this project because I love helping other people. Not everyone has the privilege of being able to take access to education for granted, which is something that definitely needs to change.
My main job is managing the marketing department of a Berlin-based start-up, and I also run a blog as a side business. In this project, I will use my expertise and creativity to drive forward the marketing side of things.
Fabio
There is practically no topic that I cannot discuss with others. So far, I have had no problems learning directly about what interests me. Because the right to education also includes access to information, I find it all the more important and right to enable others who have found this difficult up to now—and a library fulfills this role well.
I am interested in hunter-gatherer societies, material culture, and scientific theory, and I have a passion for films and experience as an editor.

I believe with all my heart in the value-adding power of reading and writing, in this project, and in the small but steadily growing impact it has already had on the world.
The project is not only for Nepal; it also gives us in Switzerland a sense of community, inspiration, and gratitude. Based on shared values and driven by a tangible sense of purpose, we are able and willing to make a difference, to take a step in a meaningful direction, no matter how small it may be. I am already infinitely grateful for the many wonderful encounters and experiences.

Sapana inspired me because it gives me the opportunity to create something wonderful with amazing people. Nepal is a country that has fascinated me for a long time, and doing something good for the children there fills me with great joy. The project allows me to apply what I learned during my studies. I am very interested in development aid, as well as different cultures and languages. Otherwise, I enjoy sports, reading, and cooking, as it brings family and friends together.

Stefania brought Sapana to my attention. I had the opportunity to accompany her to Nepal for the library’s opening ceremony and support the team on site. Meeting the locals showed me how enriching it is to make a difference together. Reading opens up new worlds for me, broadens my horizons, and gives me knowledge that will last a lifetime. Giving the people of Nepal access to this is therefore a matter close to my heart. As I am passionate about hiking in the mountains, Nepal has always had a special place in my heart. Since my visit, this connection has become even deeper, making this project particularly valuable to me.

Through numerous trips and extended stays abroad, I have had the opportunity to get to know many new cultures and people, which has inspired me and made me curious. In my opinion, education is an important element in enabling people to develop further.
Reading is something we take for granted and do every day without giving it much thought. I spend my free time doing a wide variety of activities, such as horse riding, fitness training, motorcycling, and, for the past few years, leading the Jungwacht Blauring youth group.
