From Idea To Reality.
Inspired. Persistent. Committed.
How Our Project Began
Fernanda, the founder of the Sapana Association, tells the inspiring story:
“I have always been drawn to Nepal, and when I visited the country for the first time in 2017, I immediately felt at home. I was particularly moved by the situation in rural areas, where many people struggle with poverty and a lack of educational opportunities. Despite these challenges, I was struck by the enthusiasm of the children and young people, who were eager to learn and develop – even though they often lacked the necessary resources to do so. That touched something in me.
Ultimately, the idea to open a library in Nepal arose from a combination of encounters, impressions, and the desire to make a lasting contribution. For years, this idea was the last thing on my mind at night, but I had no idea how or where to start.
I read up on development work, particularly in the field of education, plucked up my courage, and invited ten friends and acquaintances to Tamara’s (a team member) and my living room, where I excitedly presented my project with a PowerPoint presentation.
It didn’t take long before we were lost in imagining the wall colors and how we would plan our next visit to Nepal. Faster than expected, the matter was settled. It was no longer my vision, but our vision, which made the whole thing even more beautiful and exciting, as we were able to transform the ideas of ten people into one big whole.
